Nodo
This Web site is for a new restaurant and delivery business on North Dodge Street in Iowa City.
The site was built to match the logo.
I created an electronic menu for the dining-in and carryout pages to match the real-life restaurant menu.
The catering page walks users through the step-by-step process of how to order by fax.
Turf Masters Lawn & Landscape
I was hired to complete this business Web site. It was less than a quarter complete when I inherited it.
I kept the menu but retooled its graphics and color to match the rest of the page. I started from scratch with the rest of the site.
Along with Web design, I did all the copywriting for the site, optimized its photos, and spiced it up with graphics and clip art.
Elements of interest include:
- The lawn mowing page uses a fun but appropriate grass background. It looks as if polaroid pictures have been thrown on grass. If you're using a modern browser and hover over a picture, it moves to front and center.
- A slideshow on the past projects page lets the user interact with the site to see exactly how Turf Masters completed one landscaping job.
- Friendly clip art on the contact us page encourages potential customers to get in touch.
This Portfolio Website
This business Web site features a blue floral design with a gray background that shows through in the navigation area. The links you click in that area appear to be under torn-off paper.
On the page you are reading, I made thumbnails of each featured site into clickable buttons. When you move the mouse over them, the border changes -- suggesting you click on them to see the site in the picture.
Creating the photo frames to hold the content you are reading now was a fun graphical challenge. I created them to hold business-type paper, and to expand when more words and paragraphs are added inside.
Superfly Samurai
This Quad-Cities-based rock band is on the road a lot having great adventures, hence the travel theme. One of the members dug up some old license plates, used to navigate through the site. They get darker as you hover over them.
The site also features a slideshow of band photos on the Home Page, and photo album covers on the Media Page (which show their contents when clicked). Customized blogs serve as the Blog and News pages, which fit in seamlessly with the rest of the site.
With these additions, the band has the tools they need to keep the site updated.
